Headmen and Pastors

To avoid showing favoritism toward any denomination, Zambia Missions works closely through traditional leadership—specifically the Chief and his headmen—to reach the wider community, rather than operating primarily through individual local churches. In a context where doctrinal differences can sometimes create division among believers, we have chosen to open our Bible College to all, with a clear commitment to set aside denominational distinctions and focus on seeking the Truth together.

Both teachers and students commit to learning in unity, inviting God’s wisdom as they study the Word and grow in understanding.

In our communication and teaching, we use language that invites rather than excludes. We speak of the Kingdom of God and seek to express the life of the Church through everyday living. Thankfully, this work is not done in secrecy or isolation. The chiefs we work with themselves are passionate believers who attribute the flourishing of their chiefdoms to God. With their vision for the Kingdom of God to be established in Chiefdom Cooma and Chiefdom Mweemba, we are grateful for full endorsement of both our programmes and wider community outreaches. The door for effectual service is wide-open. Similar relationships are also being developed with the leaders of the neighbouring chiefdoms: Moyo, Siachitema and Sinazongwe.

But what about the churches?

Many of our students are pastors who humbly seek further training to better shepherd their congregations with a deeper understanding of both the Word and the Way. We often say there is a better way—and that growth comes through fellowship and shared learning.

As these leaders are equipped, they are sent back into their local churches for effective ministry and continued service.

We do not disregard the church—we simply choose not to show favoritism.

Testimonies

When Pastor Robson heard about our Bible Training Centre, he was reminded of Nicodemus—a respected religious leader who came to Jesus because he knew there was still more to learn. Although he had served as a pastor since 2008, he enrolled as a student with a humble heart.

Through the training, Robson discovered afresh that Jesus calls people into His Kingdom, not into a particular denomination. As he applied these biblical truths in his local church, he saw growing unity among believers as the focus shifted from denominational differences to the truth of Scripture.

One lesson challenged him personally. For years, he believed—and taught—that casting out demons was a ministry for others, not for him. Through studying Scripture, he became convinced that Jesus' commands and promises also applied to him. Soon afterwards, he was asked to pray for a tormented student. After faithfully praying for her over several weeks, she was completely set free. Today, Robson knows from both Scripture and experience that God can work through him as he walks in simple obedience.

Now serving as both a pastor and a teacher at our Bible Training Centre, Robson is equipping others to faithfully teach God's Word and to live it out with humility and courage.
